How our estate planning attorneys can help

Whatever brought you here today, we handle it start to finish — clearly explained, and with a plan built for your family, not a form off the shelf.

Estate Planning

A complete plan built around your family, your assets and what you want to happen — wills, trusts and healthcare directives, working together.

Discuss your case

Wills

Drafted and signed to meet Kentucky's legal requirements — not a download or a template — so your property goes exactly where you intend and your children's guardians are chosen by you.

Discuss your case

Living Wills

State exactly the scope of medical treatment you want under specific conditions, and name who makes healthcare decisions for you when you can't speak for yourself.

Discuss your case

Trusts

Trusts built to actually avoid probate court — which only happens if the trust is properly funded. We handle the funding step most people miss, not just the signing.

Discuss your case

Living Trusts

A revocable living trust you control during your lifetime, with a plan for who steps in and what happens to your assets the moment you can't manage them yourself.

Discuss your case

Estate Administration

Guidance for personal representatives handling an estate — inventories, creditor claims and final distributions, explained in plain English.

Common questions

Answers before you even ask

A will directs how your assets are distributed after death and names guardians for minor children. A living trust can manage your assets during your lifetime and, once properly funded, avoids the probate process entirely. Many Kentucky families use both together.

The court distributes your assets according to Kentucky's intestacy law, not your wishes, and the court — not you — selects who administers your estate. A will lets you choose both.

A last will directs how your property is distributed after you die. A living will addresses medical treatment decisions while you're alive but unable to communicate them yourself. Most people benefit from having both.

A trust only avoids probate for assets that are actually retitled into it. That step is called funding, and it's the part most people miss when they try to do this on their own — an unfunded trust still has to go through the probate court it was meant to avoid. We make sure every trust we draft is properly funded before we consider the work done.

As soon as you acquire assets, have children, or want to say clearly who makes decisions for you if you can't. There's no minimum age or net worth — a will matters the moment you have anyone depending on you.

Yes. Kentucky has specific execution and witnessing requirements, and a will drafted without them can be challenged or thrown out entirely. An attorney makes sure your will meets those requirements and actually holds up.
